Sourceman is hiring a hands-on Production/Plant Engineer to improve electronics manufacturing performance, quality, and efficiency. The role focuses on designing and optimising production processes (SMT, through-hole, and testing), troubleshooting defects and equipment issues, supporting NPI/prototypes, and driving continuous improvement on the factory floor. It also includes direct technical involvement in PCB assembly, soldering/rework, inspection, testing, process validation, and equipment setup/calibration, plus training operators and helping optimise factory layout and material flow.
As a Plant/Production Engineer, you will design and optimise SMT, through-hole, and test processes, with hands-on involvement in equipment setup, parameter validation, PCB assembly, soldering/rework, inspection, and functional testing. The role includes analysing yield/workflow data, implementing process controls, supporting NPI/prototypes and first-article builds, troubleshooting defects and equipment faults, and driving corrective actions and continuous improvement on the production floor.
You will also support preventative maintenance and calibration checks, train operators/technicians, and help improve layout, material flow, and scheduling to lift throughput and reduce downtime. You’ll be expected to uphold engineering, quality, and safety standards across installation, testing, maintenance, and process changes.
Ideal candidate: Engineering qualification, 1–2 years in electronics/EMS manufacturing, strong SMT/through-hole experience, solid troubleshooting and analytical skills, ability to read technical documents, excellent attention to detail, and strong teamwork/communication with the ability to guide production staff.
Expected Salary: $90,000-95,000 + Super
Plant/Production Engineer - Full-time
This is a hands-on operational role responsible for preparing accurate kits for SMT and through-hole production, receiving and inspecting incoming components, maintaining stock accuracy, and ensuring materials are delivered to the production floor on time. The position plays a critical part in preventing shortages, minimising line downtime, and supporting smooth manufacturing flow.
The ideal candidate is organised, methodical, comfortable working with small electronic components, and works well within a team environment. This role suits someone who enjoys practical, structured work and takes pride in accuracy and efficiency.

• Picking, packing, and issuing materials to SMT/assembly lines

Junior Production Assistant - Casual
This is a practical, engineering-focused role working directly on the production floor to diagnose faults, analyse failures, and ensure products meet functional and quality requirements before shipment. You will work with sophisticated mixed-signal, embedded, and high-speed digital circuits, using schematics, diagnostic tools, and Linux-based systems to isolate issues down to board or component level.
The position suits someone who enjoys deep technical problem solving, circuit analysis, and working closely with hardware rather than purely documentation or management tasks.
Key Focus Areas
Functional testing and validation of complex PCB assemblies and systems
• Troubleshooting and fault finding to component level using schematics and board layouts
• Reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, BOMs, and technical documentation
• Using Linux-based systems for test execution, diagnostics, scripting, and log analysis
• Operating lab/test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum analyser, power supplies, ICT/functional testers)
• Supporting production with real-time failure analysis and yield improvement
